All he wanted was some time away, some time to just enjoy his last free summer, so he decided to head up north, to visit the cooler areas of Arizona, the trees and forests of Sedona and Oak Creek. He'd finished his undergraduate degree in Military history at ASU and was going to a grad program at UofA because he liked the area. He had thought about going to Westpoint, but had worked out a plan to be better paid and not have to deal with the bullshit bureaucracy.
He almost didn't see the hitchhiker, reaching for his iPod to change the song, not that he was in any danger of hitting him, just driving by him. No one in their right mind should be out on this stretch of I17 in the heat of June. He frowned and pulled over, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel while he questioned his own sanity. The .357 by his left hip and the fact that he knew he could draw it and aim it quickly with his left hand soothed him for now, so he waited, reaching back for a bottle of water.
It was a decent car. Didn't particularly look serial-killerish. More rich-boy with too much time and boredom on his hands than anything else. He shook out his hands and took a deep breath, walked up to the passenger's side of the car and opened the door, bent at the waist to peak in.
"Hey," he said, resting one hand on the door-frame, the other on the roof of the car. He wanted to get a look before he decided if this was a mark or not.
Young, certainly attractive. More data needed, however. He smirked a little. "You heading through Sedona?"
"Just the other side," he said, handing the bottle of water over. "Why in the hell are you walking here?" he asked, tilting his head a little so his hair fell across his cheek. "Suicidal or overheating?" he asked, glancing at the hitchhiker's brilliantly red shoulders.
Kuronue slid his duffel off his shoulder and threw it onto the back seat. Slid into the passengers seat and took the offered bottle of water. He grinned brilliantly. "Car broke down about six miles back," he said, taking a deep pull of the water and then sighing resting his head against the headrest, closing his eyes. "So a little of both, I think."
His only audible response was a low, moan-like hum and several tangled thoughts. Excitement overshadowing it all. He handed his bag over to be placed in the belly of the plane and took the steps up into the plane as quick as he could while following Yukimura.
When he was in the plane he hovered by the door, wringing his hands, looking between Yukimura and through to door to Sasuke. He was gnawing on his lips again, harder then he had been before.
