The Things We Can't Control Master Post Chapter 67 ~Many Sufferings~
Jin could see Kame in the car fuming still. The money he was supposed to pay back to Yasu in exchange for permission to investigate had been thrown carelessly on the front steps. Koki was shooting him confused glances but he didn’t know what to tell him. He wasn’t even sure what, exactly, Yasu’s comment had been referring to. He only knew how it deeply affected Kame.
I should have killed you, Kame had said. Well, shouted. Yasu must have been talking about someone in Kizuna to get that kind of reaction from him, right? But as he closed the car door behind him, he was struck by the certainty he’d get no answer from Kame if he asked him. Kame was furious with him for stopping him when he went to attack Yasu. He didn’t seem to understand the truth of the situation, which was that they’d been badly outnumbered. Three-to-one outnumbered.
And hadn’t Kame been the one to tell him the treaty between the two gangs was tense as it stood already?
Well, Jin supposed everyone had the right to lose their heads a bit now and again. He just wished he hadn’t landed in the doghouse over it.
Still, he handed the written address to Kame.
Kame didn’t even look at it. He shoved it into Koki’s hands with a grunted, “Go. Now.”
“Maybe first we sho-” Koki started.
But Kame interrupted him with a growled, “I said go!” And when Koki glanced at Jin again, Kame added, “Don’t look at him! I said go! Now!”
Koki took the key out of the ignition and crossed his arms. “No. Not until you calm down. What happened in there? I know you don’t like the guy but you’re not usually like this when you leave, the few times you’ve come to talk to him since I joined Kizuna.”
Kame didn’t answer.
Koki glanced back at Jin. All Jin could do was shake his head and say, “Yasu made a comment about some woman-”
Interrupting yet again, Kame snarled, “Not ‘some woman.’ Yurina.” He spun in his seat to face Jin. “You had no right to stop me! He knew exactly what he…”
“Listen to yourself! There were six of them in there!” Jin wondered how they ever had gotten to the point where he was the voice of reason and Kame was the irrational one. It was like the world had been turned upside down. But if this was the role he had to play to keep Kame in one piece, so be it.
“I don’t care how many of them were in there!”
Jin sighed. Turning to Koki, he said, “Just take us back to the church. We’ll go when Kame calms down a bit.”
“Right.” Koki put the key back in the ignition and started the car.
“You don’t listen to him; you listen to me!” Kame snapped angrily. When Koki didn’t answer him, Kame snarled, “Fine. Give me the fucking address and I’ll walk!”
Koki hit the door locks and put the car in drive. “I’m sorry… what did you say? Take us back to the church? Sure thing, Kame. I’ll take us back to the church,” he said stubbornly and the car pulled out and the three of them were off back home.
Kame didn’t say another word for most of the ride. He just sat there fuming. It had to be exhausting, maintaining that level of anger that long.
But as they were pulling up to the church, Kame, in a much more reasonable tone, said, “Yurina doesn’t need to know what he said.”
“Okay…” Jin was just happy Kame wasn’t shouting anymore. “Look, Kazuya, about what happened back there…”
Sighing, Kame shook his head. “I’m sorry, Jin. I know I was out of line. I mean, I had a good reason; what he said was unforgivable. But you were right to stop me. I… it’s kind of embarrassing. I got so mad…”
“It’s okay,” Jin said as the two of them walked away from the car and towards the front door. “Look, you’re protective. I can understand having someone you want to, you know, protect.” Great, was he blushing? He hoped not; his manly image might never survive it. Talk about embarrassing. “That’s what I was doing back there.”
“I know.” Kame held his hand out for Jin to take it, which he did, and the two of them walked the rest of the way hand-in-hand. “It’s nearly lunch time. Let’s get something to eat and there’s a few things around here I need to do and then we’ll go check that address out.”
“Sounds good to me!” Jin smiled, squeezing Kame’s hand. “But…” and he frowned, “There’s a problem with that plan, you know…”
Kame stopped, eyebrows furrowed. “What’s wrong, Jin?”
Laughing mischievously, Jin pulled Kame into the closest room and pushed him against the wall, capturing his lips in a playful kiss. “Every plan that doesn’t start with a kiss is just seriously flawed, Kazu-love.”
Kame giggled. “Kazu-love, huh? I asked you to call me Kazuya just this morning and already you’re calling me something else.” But he wrapped his arms around Jin and kissed him again.
“Is it a problem?” Jin whispered against Kame’s lips. He hadn’t actually planned to say it like that. It just sort of… came out like that. But it felt so natural.
Another kiss, longer and more tender than the first two playful ones and then Kame whispered back, “Not in the slightest. Though… maybe keep that one to ourselves. Last thing I need is Koki teasing me about it.”
Good point.
“So… Kazu-love…” Jin whispered in Kame’s ear and he started trailing kisses down Kame’s neck. “Are we in a real hurry…” and he began unbuttoning Kame’s shirt, starting with the top button. “Or do we have a few minutes?” Koki had interrupted them earlier, after all.
Kame moaned but he stopped Jin’s hands from finishing their job on his buttons. “I wish we had time but it’ll have to wait until tonight.” But Kame’s voice was shaky and he was breathing just as heavily as Jin was himself.
“Oh, the many sufferings of Jinjin…” Jin sighed dramatically as he said it. Stealing one last kiss, he rebuttoned Kame’s shirt for him. “Well, I guess I’ll go get myself a sammich.”
“You mean sandwich.”
“No, I mean sammich.”
“What’s the difference?”
“Spelling, mostly. They taste better, too.” Jin laughed and practically skipped out of the room on his way to the kitchen.

The story continues:
Chapter 68 ~Beginning the Taro Plan~ A/N: Okay, see... sammiches vs sandwiches...
Well, I'm not actually sure how to explain the difference. But sammiches taste better. You declare a sandwich to be a sammich and you transform it from ordinary to awesome. It's... like magic. Oh, and all grilled sandwiches are automatically classified as sammiches. Especially if you use a sammich machine or panini grill to make them.
Seriously, I'm not sure how to explain this. Just... accept it is amusing to call a sandwich a sammich and that amusement makes it taste better.
But back on plot, yeah, Kame was pretty pissed off. But Koki's stubborn, thank goodness. Kame was in no state to investigate.
And Jin calling him Kazu-love. So adorable!
And I know, I know. You guys expected something bad because of the chapter title, right? So sorry LOL
