Muse 30 Day Challenge

Day 1 - Favorite Song

(forgive crap quality gif--500kb limit on tumblr, will be making better ones for lj now that I'm posting here)

Everyone on tumblr has like 10 favorite muse songs--defeats the point people! Without hesitation I can say muscle museum is hands down my favorite. To me it defines their sound, mood, and such a young cute Matt Bellamy. It is a song for anyone that feels worthless-even momentarily in life, and come on..who hasn't? The cookie cutter neighborhood with the jock, cheerleader, geek, janitor-everyone is on the same level of fuckery-it's awesome. The MV is so cool-check it out-

Day 2 - Favorite Album

ABSOLUTION circa 2003

First song by muse I ever heard was in 2004 on WFNX Alter Ego with Paul Driscoll, TIME IS RUNNING OUT. I loved it, I became obsessed with knowing who they were--no easy feat considering NO other radio station was playing them at the time. In early 2005 they came on an mtv campus invasion tour to Providence, RI and I went with my twin sister and best friend. General Admission, front row against the jersey barrier I knew exactly where to stand to be within feet of Matthew Bellamy. I'll be thirty in March, and it remains one of the best days of my life. SEE them live before you deny me this level of fangirling. When they closed with Stockholm Syndrome and giant balloons filled with 'rose pedals' fell from the sky I lost my fucking mind.

Favorite tracks are, Time is Running Out, Sing for Absolution (one like Supermassive Black Hole that I wasn't crazy for at first, but after a few listens it is stunning), Stockholm Syndrome, Hysteria, Butterflies and Hurricanes, and Fury (Japanese B-Side).

The CD as a whole is beautiful, dramatic, hypnotic, and cohesive. It came out at a time that America didn't really get enough exposure to them, and when I tried to fangirl with people in RL I usually got a WHO ARE THEY? When I tried to fangirl online a lot of veteran fans didn't like ABSOLUTION as much as Showbiz or Origin of Symmetry so I had to hear all the BS that they had gone too commercial. Call me biased, but Absolution was my first muse album will probably ALWAYS be my favorite Album by Muse.
