in 2005, i went to kaiser because my back hurt. they took x-rays. the 2 discs were still bulging, and the doctor told me to go to a chiropractor, but i didn't because i was fighting for real health insurance and admitting there was a problem would mean i'd be denied coverage ( Read more... )

Something similar happened to me. Kaiser had an MRI for six months said there were no problems then came back and realized there was indeed a big one which resulted in me getting a major surgery and basically recovering for a whole month.
Good job people. (sigh)

Well, just another life lesson that we all need to be our own advocates, eh.

the uber sad part is that kaiser is one of the better systems. most of their doctors do care. just goes to show that even if you care, you can still screw up, or let someone fall through the cracks. which is why you're totally right -- gotta advocate.
