lori drew, the woman charged in the death of teenager megan meier, is on her way to one hell of a trial. the prosecution is using a federal charge normally reserved for internet hackers to make the case that she tapped into computers and committed a crime willingly/knowingly. i'm not sure they'll win; aside from no precedence, it's a rather patched ( Read more... )

So if someone verbally abuses an animal over and over they go to jail, but if someone verbally abuses another human being there is no guilt? Is this one of those societal double standards? Seems quite strange.

well i don't know about "guilt," but according to the lawyer, the person could not be held legally accountable, which to me does not sound accurate. but this guy has been practicing law for a long time soooo he's either talkin' outta his ass, or just has a very strange concept of legality... OR, and this is the scary concept, he might be right.
