So last thursday a guy that i went to school with died of cancer. That is the second person from my high school class to have died, or 4th person from my high school class if you count my old high school. I'm going to his memorial on friday

i USED to think that there was an equal amount (if not more) of beauty and good in life. i believed it, i believed in the good in people, that eventually everyone turns towards the light. but... the more i've seen, and the more i've learned, the less and less i've believed in that. people are inherently selfish, ignorant, and do not posess the capacity (or want) to learn or express empathy. most people are not willing to give up the things that make their lives comfortable for anyone else .... any of the "good" that the human race has done, has only been necessary to resolve something we messed up in the first place. all of that has especially become clear to me after becoming vegetarian. i used to think that it was only for the animals, i didn't realize it was so much bigger than that... to see the death and destruction caused to EVERYTHING (the earth, humans by sustaining starvation and poverty, and the unecessary death of animals) just because of something that people LIKE to eat.... i mean, that has just put me right over
