Some babies swallow a lot of air when feeding and need to be burped. If babies aren't burped frequently, too much swallowed air can lead to spitting up, crankiness, and gassiness. Which makes them cry.

Pick him up, lean him to you shoulder and gently pat his back. Watch out for spit-ups, though.
