Absolutely beautiful; this story went beyond all my expectations. I'm so impressed by the plot, the way the clues and revelations are perfectly paced, feeding the tension until the final reveal. That's actually one of the things I liked most about American Gods itself, so I was so happy to see that in this story too. And there were so many themes that were woven in, the betting, the nature of gods and archetypes, the hidden intents of the Tricksters, boundaries, names, stories, Dean washed in red; it's all so rich and well-crafted, I feel like I could read it over and over and keep seeing new connections. And as for the main reveal, it's just perfect! Mithras, god of contracts and soldiers, born on Christmas; it couldn't come together any better than that ( ... )

Wow. I will be gleeing over this review for a long time to come. I am so glad you enjoyed your story, and that it surpassed your expectations. I had a good time writing it--thank you for being patient and giving me the time to let this become the story I wanted it to become.

Thanks again for leaving such a generous review - it was a wonderful thing to come home to today.

This rocks.

I don't know either fandom well/at all, but it's SO good.

Ooh, Mithras incarnating through Dean. And Mr. Nancy and the nameless Trickster making bets over the Winchester boys. I really enjoyed this - it caught the feel of "American Gods" really well, that sense of old menace uneasily rubbing up against the modernity, and knowing how to outlast it.
