Lois pulled into the parking lot by the lake, and couldn’t help but smile wryly. She hadn’t been out here all summer-in a couple summers, really. Work just took so much time these days, after all

Both Clark and Conner waved at Lois as she jogged over, but Clark didn't deviate from the task at hand. Though no one knew Conner didn't actually need sunscreen, it was important to keep up appearances, so Clark was busy covering Conner's back with the stuff.
"I'm glad you could make it." He finished his task and sent Conner running toward the water, then stood to talk to Lois more on her level. He wiped his hands absently on his t-shirt, inviting Lois to put her things down on the big, plaid blanket he'd laid out for them to sit on.
Lois waved back, smiling for a minute at Conner before sighing and shaking her head. "Really? Plaid? There was only the slimmest chance he wasn't going to inherit your disastrous fashion sense, and this?"

"He won't say anything." That probably wasn't strictly true. Clark looked toward the water while Lois was rummaging in her bag, not wanting to appear to be ogling her. Lois just gave Clark a look--did he really think Perry wouldn't enjoy a good Monday morning yell about it? Rolling her eyes again, she returned her attention to digging out her sunscreen, smirking in victory when she came up with it.
She pulled her shirt off to start applying her sunscreen. As she did, she snorted a little at the article suggestion. "Please. I'm just recently got promoted, I'm not looking to start falling behind on my headlines now. Unless there's another meteor-freak incident involved in it, you can write it. Hell, even then. They're practically old hat these days."
