So in my last entry, I asked people to provide me with prompts that I would write ficlets for. I planned to just post them in the comments of that entry. BUT THEN. Then I wrote this. And it is far too big for that. This is for
ivanolix, who requested future!Sansa/Tyrion. And since that is one of MAH PAIRINGS for ASoIaF, she got like, this huge thing

So I'm not sure what people's deal is with Sansa being "shallow." Maybe they project frustration with their own ideals onto her?

I also think you've aged them both perfectly. Tyrion still has some insecurities, but he's grown enough that he can exchange good-natured snarky banter with Sansa--rather than saying something funny and expecting her to think it's brilliant, or exchanging genuine barbs in a competitive one-upping way. And Sansa's confident and seems much healthier emotionally/mentally than she is in canon right now, but because she's done a good job working through all her trauma. I haaate when people make characters magically 100% unaffected by horrible things that have happened to them in canon (unless it's crack), but I love when it's done ( ... )

LOL FORGIVE ME. I'M A LITTLE DRUNK RIGHT NOW AND I AM TRYING REALLY HARD TO BE COHERENT.
But yes, one of the reasons I love the idea of a future working marriage for Sansa and Tyrion is that I think they could laugh together. I honestly haven't given much thought to where they are sexually in this possible future, because that's just not the important part, to me at least. I just want them to at least be able to share their lives in some meaningful way, despite the rocky (lol understatement of the year) beginning to their marriage - and the involvement in it of people who had been really, really horrible to them.

Anyways, I read through this because I love you! And boy am I happy that I do love you, because I really, really liked it. I love how their relationship was something of companionship-- first and foremost. Tyrion does not need the sexual connection like he used to (which is a feat in and of itself), and Sansa is able to keep to herself but still share herself with him in other ways. It's healthy for the both of them, when they've BOTH been hurt before. You write them as if they're friends first and foremost-- people who have been in the same bullshit and came out of that bullshit together. There is also very obvious tenderness between the two on both sides-- emotional and physical.
I am so happy Sansa knelt down, too :< I was so upset for Tyrion in the books when she refused to bend the knee. I can see why (and I like how you wrote why she did not bend), but I still wanted to push myself into the book and be all 'SANSA PLEASE JUST KNEEL IT'LL BE SO MUCH EASIER FOR YOU BOTH ( ... )

As I said in a previous comment, I haven't given a lot of thought to where they are - or aren't - sexually at this time. I just want them to be able to share something of themselves with each other. And like you said, they've both been through SO MUCH SHIT that the idea they might find any happiness at all speaks volumes about what they can be for one another.
I found Tyrion and Sansa's entire marriage in SoS almost physically painful. And I think Tywin meant it to be, so good for him, I guess? It's like... in ANY other series, it might have been okay, but GRRM wrote why it COULDN'T. When Tyrion could hear Sansa crying from behind the closed door? Ugh, my heart. So now I write fabric, hee. XD
Also, might I friend you? Fuck it, I am anyway,

And I love it.
Because oh my, the perfect.
Seriously, it's hard to make things coherent and smart sounding when there's so much perfect in this fic.
And the Weirwood - I just can't, there's dust in my eyes, that must be it, yes.
They deserve happy and you gave them happy and it's so damned...
PERFECT.

All the little things - how Sansa can't get over her family, now that she has time to grieve, how she hates the crimson but loves the gold.
I especially love how there's the idea not only of some affection/love growing between them, but of new life: weirwood, spring, and, best of all, Sansa herself. Tyrion lets her be a *person* here, not just a shadow of herself. I think Sansa's clever enough to have a sense of humor, but that no one's ever let her develop one, so that's nice to see here. I love how she's grown into being a lady of the North living in the South - her mother in reverse.
Even though Sansa's the focus, the idea that a woman can treat him with camaraderie and honest respect seems to be rehabilitating Tyrion as well and I like that a lot. It's a mutual growth.
I really, really like these two. Their getting (rather, staying) married is one of the possible endgames that I'd like to see explored more often, so thank you for this!

They're my two favorite characters if you couldn't tell. ;)
