Seriously off-topic post, potentially disturbing

I used to always read the newspaper every day, but recently I’ve been so busy, I’ve let the papers pile up.

Our insane world, here )

Then I’ll take my fantasy, thank you.
God yes. I, too, have stopped following the news a long time ago because it makes me so sick and miserable I really have a hard time dealing with it. About a year and a half ago I opened a newspaper by coincidence and literally couldn't sleep for a month because of what I'd read. Have given up since. Feel like a decadent escapist with no sound political opinion, but so be it.

Tell me when you're ready for takeoff. ;o)

Count me in on the island thing. I'll transplant my family's olives - we'll have yummy olive oil to cook with.

Seriously, though, I think there's absolutely no end to people's stupidity and just plain meanness. I too can never understand what people are thinking when reading things like this.

I just have to say this, concerning the 3-yr-old. Have they NEVER seen a child with major temper tantrums before? Because, if one were to observe my cousin's little girl when she was 3... And of course, now that she's 10, she's a wonderful child. I'd just like to bitchslap those parents...

Thanks! While Keith can be over-the-top sometimes, he can also be brilliant, as you say. He brings his firey indignation and his ability to speak in complex sentences (an ability I admire since it appears to be so scare today) together to rail against the things that often leave me speechless. Way to go, Keith!

Excellent, everybody! You're all welcome on the "I'm not an idiot" ark.

Here's my only question -- can we get cocoa beans to grow in the hydroponic garden?
