Irregular Fetal Heartbeat

I know that no one here is a doctor :) I'm just looking for feedback/experience/thoughts!

Yesterday I had my 28 week visit with my midwife (glucose test, yay! Not!). Anyway, she listened for the heartbeat and we heard an irregular heartbeat (first time this has happened). We had a good long listen, she had me switch positions, she moved the doppler around and it was there each time. The best description I can give is that it was irregular in the sense that it wasn't normal, but the baby's heart kept skipping a beat, the same beat, each time - you could hear the rhythm and know when the skipped beat was coming.

I haven't had any issues with fetal movement and the 20wk ultrasound was normal as has been all the previous heartbeats. She's scheduled me for an ultrasound in the next week just to check to make sure everything looks okay particularly since I'm having an out of hospital birth. I'm not horribly worried (maybe just a little because, y'know, I don't know what it is) - from what I've read most heart issues (if there is one) resolve themselves before birth. She did mention something like a pinched cord too which I wish she hadn't since when I googled that it seems like a much more serious problem :-/

Is there anything I should avoid doing? Until I have more info I've decided to keep away from major caffeine (I don't drink that much even when not pregnant, but I love a diet Dr. Pepper as a treat once or twice a week). I shall also avoid Dr. Google... Does anyone have experience with a weird heartbeat?

Thanks ahead of time :P
