Itching

Mar 28, 2013 21:27

I was 21 wks on Monday and OMG THE ITCHING!!!!  My belly is getting pretty big at this point so I'm pretty sure it's from stretching skin.  The cold dry air probaby isn't helping much either (Where is Spring?!).  Nothing seems to be helping.  I've tried cocoa butter, aquaphor, olive oil, vitamin E oil, and any other lotions I happened to have.  ( Read more... )

is it safe?, itching

I take some Benadryl when the itching is just too much, it seems to help!

I'll have to try some Benadryl at night. If nothing else at least it will put me to sleep. Can't use it during the day though, I'd be comatose at work. Lol!

Thanks!

you could try the benadryl lotion (usually used for hives and other itchy things) that wont put you to sleep.

i got a small bottle of the st ive's "intensive healing" lotion (got it for free with some apricot scrub i was buying) and it worked CRAZY GREAT on some really bad dry skin i've had popping up on my hands (nothing else has helped it). i haven't had too bad of dry skin on my belly so i can't comment on that, but i bet it'd be really nice!

as for gold bond though, doing a little googling it looks like it should be just fine.

I'm tempted to go to the store tomorrow and buy every lotion/cream they sell. I'll be sure to try that one.

I googled Gold Bond too and saw a couple of things that said not to use it, but it mostly sounds like it's okay.

Thanks!

I used the Aveeno cooling which has the menthol ingredient also and was like "Is it okay to use this while pregnant?" to my midwife and she was like "Sure just don't eat it. Or don't eat a lot of it anyway."

Lol! Good to know! I'll be sure not to snack on it while I'm rubbing it in. :-P

I'm off to try it. Hopefully it works!

I don't know about for itching specifically, but the best lotion by far that I've ever used is that thick Body Shop hemp hand protector stuff. It's so heavy that it would at least keep your skin hydrated / coated for a few hours.

I used kukui or jojoba oil in the shower. I would put a little in my hands and rub it in to my belly, and then lightly rinse it off in the warm water (be careful, it can make your tub floor slick).
Then, I would buff it all in with a towel. Kept my belly super soft, and calmed the itch!
