Has anyone had any success with an induction massage? My aquarobics instructor also works as a doula and offers a massage where she works on the acupressure points ( Read more... )

I had an induction massage two weeks ago at 40w4d. My water broke two and half days later, Saturday night. The massage itself was awesome. It felt good to stimulate the pressure points, especially in my feet. Do I think it worked? Eh.

I didn't have an induction massage exactly, but I did go to my acupuncturist a couple of days before I went into labour (my daughter was born the day before her 'due date'). She deals mainly with fertility issues and pregnant women, so she said she wouldn't do induction techniques yet (since I wasn't even 40 weeks at that point) but she did some points that were supposed to help move the fetus further down and prepare my body for birth (i.e. "opening up" is what she said).

I was feeling the same as you as I got close to my due date...I wasn't in a rush, but I also didn't want to go to 42 weeks because I wanted to avoid hospital induction. I started doing lots of lunges (and taking stairs 2 at a time) in the days before my 'due date'. I figured I'd start slow with 'encouraging' movements, and then start bringing out the bigger guns as I got further post-dates (which never happened for me, but that was my plan) like spicy foods, orgasms, etc....
