My weight is especially an issue because I have PCOS and fibromyalgia, so losing weight is a long process that is not going fast ( Read more... )

I was obese when I chose to get pregnant. I had a very uneventful pregnancy and now have a wonderful 7-month-old boy.

I am morbidly obese and have had two completely uneventful pregnancies. My ob told me to lose weight before I ttc, I was pregnant a month later. I have been clear with both obs that I will not accept being treated different because of my weight, and that we would assume a healthy pregnancy until something showed us differently.

I was overweight (don't think I was technically obese?) with my first and EVERYTHING went wrong. The pregnancy was actually going along swimmingly and the doctors think that me getting getting so severely sick had more to do with my daughter having a problem than because of a factor o my part (I developed sever sudden onset pre-e/HELLP; she had a true knot in her umbilical cord which was compromising her and the placenta. I'm going into TTC my next (while trying to lose weight-- I saw an RE and am going to start a liquid medical fast that I I'll continue til it's over or until I get pregnant). She thinks I'm too heavy (definitely obese at this point), but more importantly she said the research shows that the fertility treatments we might try for PCOS would be exponentially more effective the less overweight I were, so she'd like me to lose at least 3 BMI points. I want to lose the weight anyway and had been actually wanting to do a liquid medical fast before she suggested it.
