Still breech...and Doctor refused to do a version.

My baby boy has been in the frank breech presentation since about 30 weeks.  We have tried sooo many things to get him to move (spinning babies, time in the pool every day, chiro adjustment etc etc) and it's just not happening.  I am now 37 weeks.  I had scheduled an ECV for last Thursday, they do an ultrasound beforehand to see if you're a good ( Read more... )

They will check me before the scheduled c-section and if he's head down then I can go into labour naturally.

Im still pregnant with my first, but i read something on another thread about pregnancy that I thought was so important to remember and someone had said something to the extent that we should remember it's an amazing moment no matter how your baby enters the world and when they are here the birth should not be the part we are so hung up on, instead just do whats best for baby and you and be happy that the baby got here healthy ( ... )

yeah, I definitely feel that she isn't pushing me into it, she's just being realistic. She only started mentioning c-section births after we found out he was still breech, and even then only briefly. She even directed me to try turning him with exercises and said he might just turn at the last minute.

I hear you on the recovery time and time at the hospital as those are my main concerns too.. but like you said you'll do what you have to do to get your babies here safely.

Good luck!

Honestly, I really appreciated the extra hospital time because we got way more one-on-one time with the lactation consultants who actually knew how to help my daughter nurse. If we had left after day 2, our nursing relationship could've turned disastrous!

My first was breech and I did all the things you have done without any success. I was so bummed but determined to make his birth as joyful as possible. We talked with our OB well beforehand and decided on a few things: curtain was lowered when baby was birthed (yes, it was a birth), I was able to touch and caress baby before cord was cut (he opened his eyes for first time holding onto my finger, still connected to placenta), husband cut cord, initial exam was done within view of me, and one of the most important things, my best friend was able to swap in for husband when he left with baby. The birth and initial exam are super quick but the sewing back up part takes awhile and I didn't want to be alone. Having my friend there to hold my hand and tell me how cute my baby was was the best decision we made! Oh and we also brought in my birth cd of reggae music- ha! It may not be your ideal birthing situation, but it's yours and it should be special.

Also, just had a successful VBAC with baby #2 :)

It sounds like you had a wonderful birth experience! I found this great article, http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2005/dec/03/health.medicineandhealth
that I plan on printing and taking for my OB to read. And I'll tell her that I want to be as involved as possible during the birth, I know my son is going to come out butt first but I would still like to try for some skin to skin time before they whisk him off for the rub down and I would like for him to be connected to the cord for a while until he realises that he's been born.

I do plan on telling them to stitch so that I can try a VBAC. I'm lucky in that the OB practise is one of the few in town who actually allow VBACs and when the Doctor told me I would have to have a c-section after she didn't want to try the version even she said 'this doesn't mean that the next one has to be a c-section as well'. So I feel like they will do the best by my body.
Did you have a belly compress?

I am thin, but found it very, very uncomfortable for the incision to be at all damp as well.

I'm pretty sure my son has been persistently breech as well. I will keep trying everything and hope he flips! Good luck to you too :)
