With my second, I experienced a slow leak for several hours before I felt a "pop" and had a gush....I was in active labor by that time. With my 3rd I also had a slow leak that began labor. My midwife told me to empty my bladder completely, then hold a piece of toilet paper under me and give a few good coughs. If you get the same clear fluid on the TP, it's likely amniotic fluid. If not, you know it was just pee or discharge. :)

Also, mine smelled a bit musty, if it had any scent at all. I don't remember it being sweet but I suppose that could vary a bit from woman to woman.

Urine can have a sweet scent if you're dropping sugar, which could be an indication of diabetes. I would still call your doctor and tell them about it, but I'm also one of those who would wait until Monday. Use your best discretion.

Could be discharge, urine, or amniotic fluid. I'd call your doctor if you're really concerned. Personally I'd probably wait it out.

i had the 'sweet smell' problem and i ended up having a bladder infection, along with drop in my sugars.

So, i'd call but i wouldn't rush to the ER or anything.

Yeah, like what... less than 10% of waters breaking are the big gush that's the stereotype?
