I don't know if it would help, but the vaginapagina community has a tag for pelvic floor which might help provide some alternatives to Kegels--although it's not geared at someone who is pregnant.
I was gonna say kegels also. I had that problem when I had really bad morning sickness, I couldn't squat and throw up, I had to stand and lean over the toilet instead. Wish I had some advice! Sorry!
I tell an embarrassing story to help? I had my daughter 3 years ago. This time around, I did have some small bladder problems (they've gotten better now that I'm further along). Well, I've also had horrible morning sickness this time around too. One night, I was heaving so hard over the toilet, that I would up wetting myself. And because of the fabric of my pants, instead of absorbing it, the pee ran down my pants into my slippers. I was horrified because my husband was right there helping me and it wasn't like I could just clean it up and pretend it didn't happen!
This exact thing happened to me, only I wasn't wearing pants or underwear (I was straight out of bed) and ended up SQUIRTING my husband who was behind me. I think with pregnancy tends to come embarrassing pee-related stories.
Just a question - how do you know you don't have a UTI? I'm just curious because I had one for months and never knew until it became a full-blown severe bladder infection (that I had to have 2 rounds of antibiotics for). Had no symptoms whatsoever. It may be worth checking out if it suddenly has become more severe.
Not much help for now, but after baby #1 (c/section) I had horrible bladder control (I did the kegels & squats as recommended, but they seemed to make no difference). After the birth of #2 (VBAC) the problems disappeared totally without me doing anything at all.
Now I'm pregnant again it's bad again (I'm guessing due to having something bouncing on & kicking at my bladder) but I'm hoping once baby is here it will settle down again!
I've found cloth pads are my friends at this point, I only need light flow ones as they absorb much quicker than most disposables (and I find them more comfy).
Don't be embarrassed. And also, don't assume that kegels will fix everything. I do kegels and physio exercises every day for my pelvic floor (on and off the birthing ball) and still have bladder weakness. The neck of your bladder gets looser and weaker during pregnancy because of hormones, there isn't anything much you can do about that except give birth. I know it sucks though, I'm 33w now and have to wear liners every day. I use reusable cloth liners because they're thicker than regular liners but not as bulky as towels. I might invest in some Tena lady for after the baby comes as the problem is likely to hang around for a bit!
