for moms... did your birth go per plan?

Sep 03, 2011 13:03

I know there's a lot of new moms in here and this question has been on my mind since I gave birth. When I was pregnant, I was always annoyed by people asking what I planned to do for labor, then reminding me (ever so nicely again thank you!) that birth doesn't always go per plan. Well, sometimes it has to, I know that! So I'm curious...

You had a c-section without anesthesia. . . I think you might be my new hero.

I hope this next birth experience is better too.

Nope. Planned on a no-med no intervention birth and ended up with a c-section. :(

I didn't think of it as "medication" so much as a "c-section." that seemed different than having medication but still getting to do it vaginally.

It was still unmedicated up until 2 minutes before the c-section... (I had been planning an out-of-hospital birth).

Same thing happened to me. I got to 10cm, started to push and they were like "c-section!" I was ticked off because I went through hours of induced labor without any meds only to get an epidural and surgery.

Mine was more annoying than that. I spent 10 hours trying desperately NOT to push and never got to 10 centimenters. I had pitocin. All that nonsense and I never even got to try to push in spite of my body really wanting to for hours and hours and hours. Ugh.

I had two unmedicated home births. The first one was a bit more dramatic than I had hoped/planned, but it was still successful and unmedicated. The second one was PERFECT and textbook.

Your first is pretty much how I feel about mine.

My answer could be so much more involved than these choices allow. I gave birth unmedicated twice, which is what I planned and am pleased with doing. But the first time did not go per "plan," I ended up with some unnecessary intervention, and I was very unhappy with our treatment and the bullying by the hospital. But I had a homebirth for our second and that went perfectly. :)

What she said. :) Unmedicated births and all. Right down to the part about being unhappy with the treatment at the hospital and the bullying ( ... )
