Another maternity clothes question.

Mar 02, 2011 21:58

I've been using the same pair of maternity jeans since 12 weeks, but finally, yesterday, at 30 weeks, I had to go out and buy a pair in a larger size to accomodate the BELLY THAT ATE DC. I found a really comfy full-panel pair at Target, tried them on, sighed with relief, and bought them ( Read more... )

When I was pregnant, I always had to go down a size in Target jeans. Otherwise, they would fall right off.

D'OH. I actually bought two sizes bigger than normal. I think I was so elated at not having my thighs and butt squished to hell that I got a little carried away.

Also, I LIVED in the maternity tank tops from Target. I LOVE THEM. Seriously. My kid is almost three months old and I'm still wearing them under my tshirts. They covered that ugly, stupid panel very well.

But yeah, those Target pants are super comfy, you just need to be careful with the sizing.

I'll try to shrink the pants. Otherwise I can just eat myself into the larger size, right? ;)

Layering! I always wear a longer tank top or T-shirt under a too-short top.

Where did you find the longer ones? I am willing to layer at this point, despite the hot flashes. That panel is disgusting.

I wear solid-colored men's A-shirts under regular shirts. They are pretty long / stretchy, but now that I see how far along you are, it may or may not be long enough. I've never stayed pregnant long enough to get very big.

But if you DO find tanks that are long enough, layering can help keep your business covered without feeling like you're wearing the same damn shirt every day.

Dang it! I liked them because the length was awesome. I am in this funky land where normal is usually too long and petite makes me look like Urkel. Is there somewhere you would recommend for jeans?

I live in that funky land, too, and I found some that were a decent length at JCPenney. Not sure if they'll stay up any better for you, but maybe worth a try. I'm only about 17 weeks and my maternity jeans are falling down without an extra belly band around my hips. Of course, my regular ones don't fit either. Sigh.

I have a pair of maternity cargoes that are the "right size" - as in, the next size up has the crotch around my knees, so if this isn't right I don't know what is - and they do the same thing. They also seem to get looser on the second day, you know, like well-worn jeans? I find that if I wear a tank top tucked in under them, so the stretchy knit panel has something better than my belly to grip, they stay up better, and then add a longer top over the top. This, obviously only works if you're currently in a cold place, which I'm not. I'm hoping they still fit when autumn/winter come around down here, and I'll be much bigger. :)

My maternity-sized tshirts (just from Kmart) seem to cover the panel just fine, but my belly is still quite small (relative to what it will be, not relative to what it was).

I heard that it was 50 degrees here today...to me it felt like 500. This is a good idea, though, and I might be able to suck it up for dinner out with friends and the like, situations where vanity trumps comfortability.

We had 34C and humid on Tuesday before the cool change blew into town. I spent most of the day sleeping in front of a fan. :(

Do they have a draw string as well as the full panel? If so, I bought a little thing at JoAnn's craft store that is used to keep draw strings closed on things like laundry bags - you push a button to tighten or release it, the let go and it mostly holds in place. That has saved me on my draw string maternity pants.
