Did anyone else have trouble hearing the heartbeat at 12 weeks? My doctor couldn't find it today with the Doppler thingy; She wasn't worried so I know I shouldn't be but I am. She said that the fetus can hide (especially behind some of my main veins) and then we can't hear it. Last week I had an ultra sound and the heartbeat looked fine. Baby is ( Read more... )

If they saw the heartbeat, don't sweat them not finding it on the doppler. The baby is SMALL.

Also, I have a preexisting condition with my thryoid but with both pregnancies I've had to up my meds. I'm still not on a very large amount of medicine BUT my docs did NOT drop me back down after my daughter was born.

The baby is so tiny, it doesn't surprise me that they couldn't find it. So tiny, in fact, feeling movement is next to impossible at this stage. :)~

It took a long time to find the baby's heartbeat at my 12w appointment and the nurse had to go super low to find it. I wouldn't be too worried.

Thyroid problems are not uncommon during or after pregnancy. It is possible this was an issue before and you just didn't know it. I would definitely have your levels checked again after you have your baby. My dr checks mine annually because I have a family history of thyroid issues.

See? I wish I had a doctor like that. Instead I had the brand that goes "There's no way you can know what's wrong with your body! Just to spite you we won't even check it."
Thank God I moved and got a new doctor.

The heartbeat is actually harder to find around 12w than earlier because the baby's usually jumping around quite a bit. At 9w, my dr. found it right away with the Doppler, at 13 it took a few minutes. With my first pregnancy I heart the heartbeat, and then couldn't hear it at the next appt. I was a little worried, but heart it again fine at the appt after that.
