At what point should I go to the ER? Ive been showing signs of low blood sugar for about two hours. Numbness, tingling, blurry starry vision, confusion/anxiety. I ate two jolly ranchers and a soda, and I feel a little better. Is it possible to sleep this off???

Maybe try calling the doc or if you think it will ease your mind go ahead and go.

I would probably try eating something and waiting, I have these symptoms often and it helps to eat some food.

This always happens when I have ate a good meal, I dont undertsand =/

I ate a banana and juice, so well see if that helps. Last time it happened my tongue went numb and I forgot mine and my husbands names.

I thought that said banana juice... that sounds good. :)

Yeah those are strange symptoms, have you talked to your doctor about it? It could be a good idea to make a plan for next time it happens.

Treating hypoglycemia with easily-available sugar immediately is the right thing to do, but you also need to eat food to get your sugars up and steady. Have a meal. Maybe call a nurse's line (I get low blood sugar regularly, but ongoing blurry/starry vision would concern me)?

Candy helped a lot last time. I did call my dr and he told me what you told me.

Right, candy or juice will help immediately. But then you eat something else- don't wait 2hrs subsisting on just simple sugars. My general strategy whenever it happens is- glass of apple juice, PBJ sandwich (bc it's easy to make and fast), glass of milk, wait. I suaulyl feel better within 15mins. Snacking on quality snacks frequently can help avoid it happening.

I know you already called your doc (plus got some good advice) but I just wanted to mention never to try to sleep off a low blood sugar. As a type 1 diabetic who has had multiple seizures from low blood sugars that happened while I was sleeping... always wait until it goes back up.

This. I've had a few episodes where, if my boyfriend hadn't woken up and realized something was wrong, I probably wouldn't have woken up at all.

I'm a diabetic (T1) and, when my blood sugar gets low, I drink juice. If you aren't going to be eating for an hour, eat a small snack. Two hours, a bigger snack (like 30 carbs.)
