First Trimester Insomnia and Discharge

Nov 09, 2010 03:29

Am I the only pregnant insomniac on LJ at this ungodly hour? LOL. I’ve been unable to sleep for more than a couple hours at a time for the past few nights, and I’m only 4 weeks. Is this normal? I know sleep issues are common later in pregnancy when getting comfortable is nearly impossible, but has anyone experienced insomnia so early in the ( Read more... )

I have never been a great sleeper. I didn't start getting really tired in my pregnancy until about 6 or 7 weeks.
of course now that I'm 14 weeks, I can't sleep at all! I'm up at 4:30 after only sleeping a few hours.
Good luck getting some sleep!

Haha, this is true. I guess I should have clarified which continent I was referring to. ;)

I didn't get insomnia, not until later when I was too nauseous to sleep through the night :(

But I did get an increase in discharge and, like you, wondered if it was normal. I was told that it was! I'm 17 weeks now and still get more discharge than I did pre-pregnancy.

Hope you manage to get some sleep!

It's 4am where I am right now and my lovely, wonderful, amazing "morning" sickness has me awake. In my first trimester (14 weeks, 5 days today) I didn't get insomnia so much as my body decided to reverse it's sleep schedule, but that's just a problem I have. Id chalk up insomnia to hormones. And yes, an increase in discharge is normal.

I think that the preparation for the extreme sleep deprivation starts early. The funny thing I've noticed after the fact with my three girls is that their natural schedules tended to match my sleep patterns prenatally. With two of them, I would wake up god awful early everyday for no reason at all, and then after they were born, that was the time they wanted to wake up for no good reason.

That's funny. Would explain the random "wide awake after only a handful of hours' sleep" thing I've had happen a few times.

OOh I like this theory, seeing as how I usually sleep really well this pregnancy, whereas last time I'd be UP at 3 or 4 am many days out of the week. You can guess how good of a sleeper my first was. :-/
