For those who have had other children, did you try any natural inducing ways to try to get your baby to come after you had already reached full term ( Read more... )

home induction methods, red raspberry leaf tea

i walked a ton.
Infact, I actually walked all over target a week before I was due and continued to walk every morning around the neighborhood and did a lot of 'excess' exercise that probably wasn't recommend [as in walking too much]. because we also moved and i was still cleaning up.
I went into labor three days after my due date.
But, your baby won't come until its ready!

By 40+10 I was happy to try pineapple, curry, walking, even tried to try sex but we just couldn't manage it (I'm v. small and the bump was so very big it just wasn't working). In the end masturbation triggered my waters at 42w dead on, unfortunately regular contractions did not follow so they ended up dragging my non-engaged, wrong-side up baby out of me at 40+16.

My first was born at 41w2d - All I did was walk. I knew there was a good chance I'd go over as a first timer, and I wasn't willing to induce (or even talk about it until 42w). I drank RRL throughout my whole pregnancy, so I don't consider that an induction - it tones the uterus, it doesn't force it to all of a sudden start working.

Oh yes I went over as well with baby #1 and #2. All bodies are different. As I said above too, the tea isn't so much for induction, and I don't think any natural induction remedies will even work unless your body is ready. I hate pitocin so I will NOT be doing a medical induction unless absolutly necessary.

With my second, my MIL (whom I dearly love) came to stay with #1 when we went to the hospital... but she kept making comments like, "Should I have DH boil some water" every time I made a move or sound or anything.

What put me into labor at 40w2d with #3 was to finally lose it and tell her to knock it off =)

As far as actually getting labor going, castor oil after a good membrane sweep worked just fine for me when I was a week overdue with my first. But you do need to inform your care provider beforehand if you choose to try that once your due date has come and gone, since dehydration is a concern with the whole laxative effect (I actually didn't get much of that part of it, I was lucky though).

In both of my previous pregnancies I have seen my cervix change a lot when using EPO capsules vaginally every night from 35 weeks on. But I had my second at 37 weeks 4 days, so I think this time I'm putting off the EPO until 37 weeks just in case it helps keep the baby in a bit longer.

I guess I didn't SEE change in my cervix, that would be difficult. I'm sure you get what I mean though =P
