Irregular bleeding?

Hey guys, I'm four months postpartum on hormonal birth control, and about a day ago I started having some weird irregular bleeding, that was strange for me, which is what caught my attention. Crossposted to vaginapagina .

I would just call your doctor. I hope everything turns out well for you.

Is this your first period after being on HBC again? I know for the first month or two I had a TON of clots and heavy bleeding. I was told it was normal due to being back on HBC. If you are concerned, call the OB, but for me it was perfectly normal. Good luck!

This would actually be my third period after the birth control, fourth after having the baby (I started menstruating again two weeks after he was born), and all of my other periods had been completely normal.

Thanks so much for your input!

I went through something similar a few years ago..I wasn't on HBC but I started bleeding about a week before I was supposed to get my period. We were out of town and I bled through a tampon AND two pads, onto the bed we were sleeping in. It was awful. There was so much blood, and HUGE clots. I had to hang out on the toilet while my husband went and bought me pads in the middle of the night. He also got me a pregnancy test, which was a verryy faint positive when I peed on it. I spoke with an on call doctor who figured it was a miscarriage.

By the time we got home that Monday, I was still bleeding so heavily that I went to the ER (Labor and Delivery) because I thought maybe i was hemorrhaging or something. The doctor who did an ultrasound said it didn't look like I had been pregnant at all! So I will never really know, but I think it was a very early miscarriage.

I'm sorry..I hope you are doing ok. It's a good idea to call the doctor..It might just be a weird period or it could be an early miscarriage :(
take care and good luck!

Hormonal birth control can change your periods, especially in the first few months. Having a baby can also cause your periods to be different, even if it's not your first baby. To be honest, it doesn't sound like a miscarriage to me, but an odd period. Especially when you consider your period is two weeks early. If you have regular periods this would be around the time of conception. There really wouldn't be any noticable tissue to come out.
