False Labor - ARGH!

Sep 15, 2010 13:06

So I went to bed last night having contractions that were 6-7 minutes apart lasting about 1 minute each. They felt like menstrual cramps and were uncomfortable but not painful ( Read more... )

*hugs* I sympathize fully.

I was convinced 2 days ago that it was the day. Regular cramping going through my back, bloody show, the works.

The cake was a lie.

I've been spotting ever since. I'm going insane here.

This sort of thing, waiting for labor, is totally not for anyone with a personality type vaguely resembling an A-type.

Good luck.

I hope we both go into labor... TODAY.

SO. MUCH. THIS.

I've tried ignoring labor signs figuring that when things really start progressing I'll notice, but I just can't.

Good luck to you too! No signs of labor here aside from more contractions that are going nowhere.

The MP or bloody show don't necessarily mean anything anyways, so try not to get too discouraged if they haven't made their appearance. I didn't lose/see anything at ALL with my first pregnancy. I'm assuming it all came out when I was in labor.

With my second, I lost my MP and then was pregnant for another three weeks with some more mucous/bloody show randomly appearing in small quantities.

This! I never had a bloody show, and never lost my mucus plug, so don't get too distressed if you don't see them.

Good luck!

It's good to know that labor could be just around the corner even without these signs. Thanks!

Thanks, this helps! I check obsessively every single time I go to the bathroom and it's good to know that not seeing them doesn't necessarily mean I won't go into labor soon!

I'm a type A personality with anxiety issues. I really, really wish that I could relax but I am just too damned anxious!

Does it help to not think of it as "false" labor? It is your body doing something it needs to do, and it is a real thing happening...it just isn't active, progressing labor yet. Still frustrating, but that is one of my semantic bugaboos...

Here's wishing a speedy onset of labor and a babe in arms shortly!

My husband keeps pointing this same thing out to me but it doesn't help. I am just beyond frustrated at this point.

Thanks for the good wishes!

ha ha, i had like seven false labors, including one that lasted like 28 hours and i was dialated up to 5-6ish.

when it was finally the real day, it only took 2.5 hours from my waking with a contraction to her birth. i didn't call the midwives until 90 minutes in because i was so scared it was going to stop again. so they basically got there just in time to catch :-)

i say all this so you know that your body IS doing good work with all those contractions and when your baby is finally ready, maybe it will be fast like mine was? good luck!
