I just got back from the doctor's office. Supposed to be a nice, routine visit wherein he checked my cervix, noted no changes and sent me back on my merry way to work.
Was great up until they called me back from the waiting room. I went back, they weighed me, told me they needed a urine sample. As soon as I started walking down the hall to the bathroom, I felt a trickle of fluid and thought for SURE my water had broken. Imagine my surprise when I got to the bathroom and found bright red blood on my pad (I'd been wearing one since I started losing my mucus plug on Sunday). Needless to say, I forgot to give them a urine sample on that particular trip.
The doctor came in and checked my cervix, still only dilated to 1cm, but he thinks I may have thinned a bit (how he can tell for sure when he wasn't the one who examined me last Friday, I don't know, plus my cervix has always been a little short since I had my LEEP 10 years ago), so what he said after that was that he thought it was my bloody show. Now, everything I've heard or read about the bloody show is that it's blood-tinged mucus, NOT a gush of bright red blood.
He couldn't find an obvious cause for it, so they hooked me to monitors where everything looked good.. about 5-6 contractions, but normal for me and nothing painful. Ultrasound and culture showed my waters still intact and perfect fluid level and that the placenta is still attached as well. They told me to take the rest of today off and stay off my feet. The bleeding has stopped.. it's now light brown and not even getting to my pad.
So, seriously, WTF is going on?
