Dear fall, I thought that you were almost here, but apparently not. Sincerely, Anne

I went up north on Saturday and just came back to find that there's a heat advisory in the city. It's 32 degrees out, but the local weather network let me know that with the humidity it feels like 39. We don't have air conditioning. I'm so hot that I can't tell if I'm nauseous because I'm actually nauseous, or the heat has totally destroyed my ( Read more... )

I swear that there is some kind of shame-inhibition hormone, because I've been walking around the house wearing considerably less than I ever normally would. I usually have a wet washcloth on some part of me when I'm really hot--my head, or chest, or belly, or even just a leg, and have a fan on me. The evaporation feels great, and it's nice for sleeping as well.

Soaking my feet in cool water helps too, though lately it's felt better to have my feet up, so I haven't been doing that as much.

I regularly walk around in my underwear. Our building was built in the 20s and in the winter the heat is either ON or it's OFF. And when it's on it's 34 degrees.

So yeah, my neighbours have probably been treated to a few free shows. This winter (I'm due end of Jan/ early Feb) they'll get the pregnant version. Oh well!

It is cooler where I live now, but for several weeks we had temps up close to that with the horridly hot humidity. We don't have AC either and I was dealing with morning sickness -- made worse by the heat. So my little ones and I took trips to the library, the store, to friends house... Also, cool water helped. And like someone else said, drink a lot! Hope you're out of the heat soon!

I saw the celsius and had to look at your user info to see where in Canada you are. :)

I bought a portable air conditioner at Canadian Tire earlier this year for our bedroom cause I couldnt stand the heat. They're expensive and you probably dont want to buy one this late in the year. But before that, I was spending alot of time at the pool and the movies. Barring that, I was taking alot of cold showers and sitting around with bags of ice.

Yup, I'm in Onterrible, specifically Toronto. Officially the worst city to be in during a heat wave, I've decided.

Where are you located?

BC. But not the cool Vancouver area BC, the "OMG middle of nowhere" northern BC. Peace River Region.

My husband has cousins from Fort St. John BC. That's close(ish) to Peace River, right?
