Waiting...

So I'm 38w4d preggo with my first baby... and I want this baby to come out now. :( Man this waiting game sucks, as I'm sure a lot of you know. I had a picture taken of me today and I wanted to cry when I saw it because I look like such a whale. I'm supposed to be due on Jan 28th but the last ultrasound I had about a month ago said it looked like ( Read more... )

trimester - third, size of the mother, size of the baby, emotions

The u/s can be off by a ton, so as hard as it is, try not to worry about that. And yes, you can go into labor with no dilation and contractions. When your body is ready, it will go :)

Ultrasounds are unreliable for size after a point. And tons of women have bog babies at small sizes. Just relax, and baby will be here in no time. size and

Big, not bog. Stupid phone.
I was dilated between 2 and 3 for my last trimester. When it happens, it happens, but I know how hard it is to wait!!

Ultrasounds can be off by two pounds in either direction. Due date estimations become less accurate as the pregnancy progresses, so do not base anticipated size off of that alone ( ... )

Thanks, a lot of this makes me feel better. :) It may be possible that I'm having contractions and not knowing it, especially since this is my first time. And it's good to know that ultrasounds can be so off.

+1 on the ladies above.
What helped me: is to think that this is the first and only time in my life when looking like a whale - is perfection and beauty! too bad you have only about two weeks of that left :-)
I had my first on 4th of December and I am currently 32lb down (breastfeeding rules!) and keep going (i am not going to tell anybody how much i've gained with this... ) :)
Just keep floating, like whales do, around. I was still at work 4 hours before kid popped out because they told me first baby will take forever to come out and since you are 32 it will take even longer, maybe some induction, c-section, etc... BS! plopped out on his own. had his own mind from very beginning, still does :-P
Enjoy last weeks of freedom!

I totally plan on breastfeeding and I SO can't wait for it to help me lose weight! I'll admit that until about a month ago I did really feel beautiful in a way. Now I just feel ridiculously large, especially since I rarely see other fully pregnant women as big as I am. I've been told labor will take a really long time since it's the first time as well. :P

With my first baby, I went from 3cm to delivery in 90 minutes.

I didn't have any contractions before labor. Even the bh I'd had since 16 weeks mostly stopped. Then at 39w I felt my first contraction and went into labor the next day. I had a long labor but she was born 52 hours later. Fwiw after 12+ hours of early labor I was still only 1.5 cm and my baby didn't drop til I was pushing.

Good to know. I had BH's randomly up until about a month ago, but they just stopped and I haven't had anything since. Luckily my baby dropped a long time ago, so that's a plus.
