I am just shy of 24 weeks and twice this week I've had an unusual sensation. Where it feels like half my stomach (or rather, uterus, because it's in that area exactly) goes cold/numbish. I'm no doctor, but it sounds more like a pinched nerve or blood vessel. I suppose it's possible the baby is applying pressure to something. Plus, you have a lot more fluids in your body that can cause things to go numb. I lost all feeling in my middle finger of my left hand for months. I had some swelling and that caused the sensation. It finally went away after I gave birth.

Of course, ask your doctor or midwife about it especially if it happens frequently, but my guess is it's one of those weird things that go along with being pregnant.
