Small bleed -- I shouldn't be worried, but still am.

Sep 14, 2009 19:25

I'm almost exactly 12wks. I went in for my first-trimester screen (and first ultrasound) today. The tech didn't really say anything out of the ordinary during the ultrasound, but when I met with my midwife, she told me they had found a small hemorrhage, I *think* somewhere in the sack (I really should've been taking notes, but it all went really ( Read more... )

Subchorionic hemorrhage-does that sound familiar?

I had one with my daughter, I had one with my current pregnancy. Both times, they've cleared up on their own without a problem or without incident. Sometimes people experience some bleeding as a result of them-I haven't, but it does happen sometimes.

I had one with my daughter, who is now 4. I bled off and on through 20 weeks.

They wrote small bleed on mine and never even told me because they said it was no big deal and we couldn't have done anything to help it at that point anyway if it was.

Despite thinking I want to know everything that's going on, I almost wish I didn't know since I can't do anything about it anyway. It just gives me a reason to be paranoid and look for reassurance on Livejournal :)

Subchorionic hemorrhage? I had one during this pregnancy. I had some scary bleeding and then bled off and on for a few weeks. And now I'm 34 weeks! :)

Good luck and try not to worry yourself too much!

I've been diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma/hemorrhage as well. I had what I thought was a period at about 3 wks (turns out), then a fairly large bleed lasting about a week at 6 wks, then 3 days of bleeding (1 of red, 2 of pink) at about 8 wks. Now I'm 10 weeks and haven't had more bleeding, but was told that it is possible. Most of them resolve by 20 weeks, in my understanding and once you've seen/heard the heartbeat, the risk is no higher than the normal risk of loss.

I haven't had even a smudge of bleeding since my last real period, so it was sort of surprising. Everything else with the ultrasound and heartbeat was fine today, so I'm sure I'm just worrying for nothing. Still, it's nice to have the reassurance:)

My midwife said that some people bleed, and some people don't. I happen to be a "lucky" one. However, other than causing me some lovely anxiety, it has not affected the course of my pregnancy at all, and I've done a lot of looking around and it seems that most people who make it out of the first tri with one tend to have no other issues at all, basically putting us on par with everyone else. Sprocket (the baby) and I have had words about his inability to chill the fuck out. :)
