Totally Hypothetical

As you might have guessed by the subject title, the following question is totally hypothetical.  So, if facing certain induction - would you then try castor oil to self-induce labor?

I only ask because I realize that castor oil has a pretty bum rap - and in some circles artificial induction (by way of Pitocin) shares a similar disdain.

Castor oil, 100%. I didn't progress and had to have pitocin and it was absolutely terrible.

I would just refuse the induction.. if you don't want one, they can't make you :)

Doesn't it give you bad diarrhea? I wouldn't want to have bad diarrhea on top of being induced.

Nope. I'd rather just go with pitocin. Castor oil makes me violently, violently ill. I've had pitocin before with far more pleasant effects.

There are a heck of a lot of other things I'd try before resorting to either! Though I'd probably rather have Pitocin than the runs, honestly.
