Extreme dizziness

Apr 24, 2009 11:22

Hi ladies. Sorry for making yet another dizziness post, but I don't know what to do at this point.

Every single time I stand up (not just when I "spring up,") I get incredibly lightheaded, my vision starts going black, it feels like someone is squeezing my brain and kicking my eyeballs out from the back of my head, my hearing sounds tunnel-y, ( Read more... )

have you thought about going to the ER? if the dizziness is getting worse, then you have good reason to go...

Yeah i'm considering it, i just wanted to get some other opinions to make sure that isn't me going overboard or anything, since i can't get ahold of my midwife to ask her. :(

Thank you!

I would go to an urgent care center if I were feeling that bad and couldn't get an appointment anywhere.

Reread your post.. I'd just go into your midwife's office.

I'd say go into the midwife's office or the ER. You might try cutting back on your water intake, and sub in Gatorade or juice. Too much water with too little of other nutrients can cause some problems.

I hope you get to feeling better!

If it's causing this much trouble I would go get checked out as soon as possible. I was feeling dizzy the other day and looked it up online (not that that is the best way to get your info but...)it said the symptoms you describe (tunnel vision, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, etc.) are very good reasons to go to the doctor. Anemia was one of the culprits they mentioned but it also so said, 'Or other serious conditions'. If/when it happens again I would go to the er. Listen to your body. It's telling you something is going on. Don't feel bad for feeling bad. Just get it checked out and then you can move past it and enjoy your pregnancy. Good Luck! I hope to hear how everything turns out.

Go to the e.r. This is not normal pregnancy dizziness, from the sounds of it.

I went to the e.r. for this (though I was fainting and I'm not constantly dizzy, so quite different but same concept) and ended up being transported to another hospital to see a neurologist and within a few days was discharged with meds to take.

The neurologist believes my issues are caused by migraines, but he told me that extreme dizziness/fainting can be caused by blood vessels in your head dilating and contracting beyond what they would normally do, causing you to not get enough blood to your brain and causing you to get faint.

Get checked out. If you end up passing out (like I did) you could seriously hurt yourself or your baby in the fall. And if this happens when you are driving... well I'm sure you know how bad that could be.

It may be nothing, it may be something small (like anemia, which is pretty easy to manage) or it may be something serious.. but it would be best to get checked out.

Hope you feel better. Keep us updated. :)
