Jan 12, 2009 20:19

I started spotting lightly last night didnt think nothing of it and went to sleep. Woke up went to work and around 10:30 started bleeding a little bit more with light cramps so I decided to go to the hospital. The doc did a physical exam and said my cervix was still closed and that I felt about 8 weeks along. ( I thought I was 7weeks) So they did ( Read more... )

When I miscarried, I had bad period cramps for a couple of days and then a few clots the last day of it all. The next day I had a scheduled vaginal ultrasound and they said that everything had passed. I had figured that at that point, being that my levels had dropped dramatically (they were supposed to be up in the ten thousands, and I was at like.. 800-1000 the most, but I think it's safer to make sure everything passed on it's own then to risk that it hasn't and end up getting an infection.

Ugh, so sorry that you're dealing with this! Do you have an OB? They may have an on-call number you can call to see what they want you to do.

Typically by 4-5 weeks a sac will be seen on a vaginal ultrasound :( I had an ultrasound with my daughter at about 4 weeks and we were able to see a sac & a tiny little dot in the sac which confirmed the pregnancy. Since your cervix was still closed that is a good sign..you could either be super super super early in your pregnancy...they should have ruled out an ectopic pregnancy while you were there through an ultrasound. You can die from an ectopic pregnancy so I would find out asap if that is the situation or not.

I'm sorry for your loss as well. My prayers are with you.

Oh also another good way to find out if your pregnancy is viable (well it gives you an idea at least, its not 100%) is get your blood taken and have your levels checked. When I had mine checked at around 4-5 weeks (I too was bleeding) they were around 3000. They should be doubling every 2-3 days as well so you may need to get them checked once then again in a few days.

Go ahead and call your doctor's emergency line to see if they think you should go in.
If you think it could potentially be ectopic, go to the ER if you can't get in touch with the doctor. The clots especially make me think that a doctor or ER visit may be in order =\
*hugs* This is awful to go through - not really knowing. It would be good to go ahead and at least get in touch with the doctor.

If it get's worse then I would absolutely go back to the hospital. The symptoms you describe are mirror to the symptoms that I went through a few weeks ago during my miscarriage at eight weeks. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers that everything's alright. Im sorry that you're going through this - It is a trying time especially so early.
