I am so sorry that this happened to you. That's outrageous.

If you decide to take further action, contact your state medical board.

While I don't think the doctor's treatment was exactly, um, fabulous, I will say that HPV can be identified while you're having an outbreak without having to take any samples. HPV (and it's variants and precursors) CAN be pre-cursors to cervical cancer, but is not always. I had a similar outbreak - not HPV, but something minor that I seem to have caught on our honeymoon in Jamaica (the doctor says they can be transmitted via towels, etc., so that may have been the culprit) and she just dabbed the acid on the areas that were affected. I'm amazed your practitioner doused you without warning and ESPECIALLY in such a sensitive area! Mine was just on my thighs and I thought I was going to go nuts from the itching/burning. O_O ( ... )

I don't really remember the story completely but I know of a woman who had a strange bump that really did look like the start of a wart; even her gynecologist thought it was a wart. Long story short, it turned out to be an ingrown hair that got infected.

You're supposed to be allowed to give consent to any procedure, no matter how small, and having acid poured on your genitals, especially while pregnant is NOT a small procedure. She should be seriously reprimanded for that.

I would definitely not let the woman near me again if I was in your shoes.

Even if it is/was a wart, it could be HPV, it could be herpes, who knows? You certainly won't know now that she's poured acid on it. And for all you know, it could have been something as silly as an infected ingrown hair.

I would be out for blood if I were you...

Any time I have a bump around there it turns out to be an ingrown hair.

I've freaked myself out in the past over this very thing. I made some questionable choices in my sex life many years ago and I'm quite fortunate not to have ever contracted anything too serious. I am an HPV carrier, like nearly 80% of the population, but have had clean pap smears for several years now. But once you've ever had a wart of any kind in that region, you're always kind of paranoid about little bumps and such; even though now all I have is ingrown hairs ;)

I should probably mention I've never been with anybody than my husband and same for him with me also I've never had an abnormal pap smear, but yeah anything like that is always scary.

What she did is illegal. She cannot perform ANY treatment on you without your express permission and written consent. Period. Report her to the state medical board, the hospital, and anyone else who will listen (such as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology). And then find a new doctor.

My doctor always has me sign a consent for treatment when I first come in. So you don't know hers didn't do that. ALL my doctors do that- it I've never heard of a doctor not doing that, but maybe that's just me.

Any treatment beyond the norm should be discussed and approved with the patient. I've never had a doctor who required you to sign a consent for treatment form when you didn't even know what the treatment would be!
