Baby product recommendations

Hello, all! My MIL is throwing me a baby shower this Saturday, and just called to ask if I had a preferred brand to use for baby products. She wants to play a game like "The Price is Right", where everyone has to guess the cost of the various baby products she is going to buy me. She suggested things like baby wipes, diapers, baby powder, bath ( Read more... )

baby gear, newborn necessities, baby showers, baths, diapers - disposable

I'm using the following for the newborn stage, because they have the umbilical cord cut-out ( ... )

Just FYI the Pampers Swaddlers that you have selected for size 1 also have the cut-out in the preemie and newborn sizes.

Ohh, I didn't know that! Now I'm going to have to re-do my registry (again) hahaha. Thanks! :]

Your welcome!

I've heard so many good things about them for newborns, I didn't want anyone to miss out. But I checked my boxes, and the website and they both say it.

Burts Bees make some good baby products, but are a bit pricy.

Also - Method has some baby products as well.

Take a stroll down the product aisle at the drugstore, walmart or zellers the next time you're out.

For bath products and sunscreen, California Baby is awesome, and it's all natural, etc. It's on the more expensive side, but that stuff tends to last quite a while, so it is worth it. The sunscreen, in particular, is extremely highly rated from a safety standpoint. We're cloth diapering this time around (and boy, could some of the prices of those diapers be great for messing people up when they are guessing!) but with my son we used Swaddlers until he outgrew the sizes they made, and then switched to Huggies. I also really liked Aveeno bath products, particularly the lotion and baby wash/shampoo for sensitive skin, as my son had a touch of eczema. For wipes, we usually just use the Target store brand, scent-free. We never used baby powder, but I know that using something that is cornstarch based is safest, as talc is dangerous. Burt's Bees makes one. They also make my all-time favorite baby lotion and apricot oil that is fabulous for cradle cap.

I second California Baby and Burt's Bees. They're fantastic. We've also used products by a company called Thyme, but those were bought at Joseph Beth's.

Wipes.. We've bounced between Pampers and seventh Generation for some time. Honestly, I wish I would have just bought dark wash cloths though.

Using washcloths sounds like a great idea! I always thought wipes sounded unnecessary. For travel and stuff, yes, then they are a fine idea, but if you are at home, and are washing cloth diapers anyway, why not wipe their bottom with a re-usable cloth?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I haven't seen any California Baby products around here, but I will look into ordering them if I can't find any other sunscreens that are baby-appropriate.
