I just REALLY need to rant

Okay, I'm 34 weeks along, and physically falling apart, but that's not the point of the rant. Just so you understand, I'm working a temp job, week four when it was supposed to have been two weeks. (No permanent job has been willing to hire me for SOME reason.) My wrist is cramped up REALLY bad because it's data entry, and my feet are so swollen ( Read more... )

I kinda think that's what's gonna happen. And I'll just lay down until I feel like I can be on my feet long enough to make myself a grilled cheese or something. And hope they're not too pissed. He's told me before that they think I don't like them. Which isn't true, but I feel very pressured by them.

I've had horrible edema during this pregnancy as well, have you tried wearing heavy duty support hose? I usually wear knee-his every day, and now that I'm almost 39 weeks along I've been wearing my support pantyhose once a week. They are SUPER FUN to put on with a huge belly and carpal tunnel syndrome bad enough to make my fingers numb, let me tell you.

HOWEVER! Even wearing those damn things once a week has made vast improvements on my ankle swelling, and I highly recommend getting some.

As for the family pressure, all I can offer is my sympathy. Don't let them guilt trip you, and if they do, explain to them that you are super pregnant and you don't need to feel any worse about yourself when they should be supportive of you instead.

As for the "someone else cleaning" thing-when I was 39 weeks, my Mom came in to town for a few days to help and what made it a little more comfortable for me was to ask her to do the things that were just getting too difficult-so I was able to run the vacuum, but could you clean the tub? I can fold the laundry, would you mop the floor?

I've been bugging my husband to clean the tub for longer than I care to admit. It's pretty gross. He just keeps forgetting, dammit. His mom is gonna wind up doing it by now (since she's coming tomorrow) and she'll probably think we're pigs.

a tip that *might* help with the feet/ankles swelling (can't hurt to try!):

in addition to putting your feet up at the end of the day, you could also try having your husband (etc.) massage your feet. have him make a c-shape with the thumb and forefinger, and push down some on the top of the foot going toward your ankle. one of my midwives suggested it as a way to get the fluid moving out of the feet (i'm swelling up like mad too). using a little moisturizer/massage oil at the same time is helpful as well.

if he's game, it's also just a nice thing to do for you during your pregnancy/way to connect with one another.
