War stories, cute. Almonds, raw almonds. 3 to 5 of them, drink it up with water. It is the only way to get ride of my heartburn. As far as sleep I either wear myself out until I crush from exhaustion; sex helps a great deal as well. That's about it for me.
I dealt with horrible heartburn all throughout my pregnancy. The ONLY thing that I could get to work was yogurt. Even the dr. prescribed meds didn't touch the heartburn, but yogurt but right through it.
If dairy in general is good, yogurt or kefir (funky yogurt drink) is going to be better. Both are have cultures in them that are good for your digestive system overall, to kinda keep things humming along IYKWIM. (And if you don't, you will soon enough. :-/)
I've been plagued with heartburn since I was like 4 weeks pregnant. Never before had I experienced it... I thought I was having a heart attack! haha... Nonetheless, here I am at 32 weeks and still hating every minute of it. But there is hope! ;)
Zantac is safe to take when you are pregnant. That worked for me until about 20 weeks and then I needed something stronger. I am now on prescription Nexium and that seems to combat that best. I still have residual effects of heartburn but it is not nearly as bad as it could be.
As for the insomnia, I am in the same boat. I wake up every two hours to go pee and if I wake up around 4:30am, I know I'm up for the long haul. Luckily, I am not working right now and can take an afternoon nap.
Yeah, I've never had heartburn before so I was all "holy crap what the hell" and one of my room mates clued me in (and called me stupid. can you feel the love? LOL)
I eat spicey food a LOT so I'm hoping this isn't an ongoing thing.
