We're about to freaking lose it on this hospital. Rhiannon had her 4 month shots today, and as some of you know, we have refused the Hep B vaccine since she was born. We just don't believe it's right to give that vaccine at such a young age. We're not crazy anti-vaccination people... we just don't agree with the ONE vaccine. Not until she's around 12 years old.
The hospital knows this. We have made it CLEAR from the beginning and have said MULTIPLE times that we don't want that vaccine given to our daughter. Every step of the way we have reiterated... "No Hep B!" And they would say "Ok. No Hep B."
When she was born, we were getting discharged from the hospital, and before we left they gave us her shot record. Guess what was listed on there? That's right Hep B. Oh man, we were LIVID. Turns out, they did't administer Hep B, the lady who filled out the card just automatically put it on there out of habit. Alright, good. But still... *unprofessional*! It's completely irresponsible to record medical information in medical records without varifying them! But ok, we got past that.
She had shots again at 2 months. We said again multiple times, "No Hep B!" They said, "Ok, no problem."
Today she got her 4 month shots. And again, we said no to that vaccine. When we got there, we asked the guy for a print out of Rain's vaccination record (because we can't seem to find her shot card, so we wanted to get a print out so that we could fill that info in when we do find it). Guess what was listed under her two month shots?! HEP FUCKING B! Which royally pissed both of us off. I mean, it's not like we told them once in passing "we prefer not to get the Hep B vaccine for her." No. We have repeated ourselves OVER AND OVER again, through EVERY step of the way... "NO HEP B!" And they acknowledged our request *every* single time! So of course we ask the guy wtf is Hep B on there for?! The guy said that the same thing happened. Someone entered Hep B in the database out of habit.
Once, while it pissed us off, I can forgive... but TWICE now?! Gwydd said that he wouldn't be surprised if she actually had gotten Hep B both times. GAH! But, even giving them the benefit of the doubt that she really didn't get that vax both times... it is COMPLETELY unprofessional and unethical to record medical information in medical records without having it varified! Ugh, we are BEYOND pissed about this.
When Gwydd comes home from work he's going to make a formal complaint to the hospital.
