Note: I’m a silent
ficcy reader ( sorry, I will try to leave comments!) and I saw her Heechul Kissing Massacre Contest, and I thought I’d give it a try. My first ever SJ fic… I apologize if it’s terrible.
“Calm down.”
Hankyung nods, looking at everything backstage. He wants to calm himself down too, but he can’t seem to stop thinking about Heechul, who is among the audience right now, waiting in his seat to watch him perform on his own.
“Hankyung, be ready. Your performance starts in five minutes,” one of the handlers tells him. “Hey, calm down all right? You’ve been onstage millions of times before.”
Hankyung nods quickly. He knows that, but this is different. Heechul is among the audience right now, and he could’ve done this with more confidence if the rest of Super Junior were with him. A solo performance is always nerve-wracking, made even scarier by Heechul’s presence, who is probably his best and worst critic.
Hankyung swallows his nervousness and boldly steps out into the stage, his eyes seeking out the beautiful and familiar face as a crowd of five thousand stood up to applaud him. And there he is, in the first row, clapping proudly along with the crowd, singing quietly to the same song that Hankyung is singing.
“And when you’re far away, I trust the wind to carry,” Hankyung sings. “My love to you…”
Hankyung deliberately chose this song because this is the song that Heechul listens to whenever Hankyung leaves for China.
“I close my eyes and reach out,” Hankyung cries. “In the darkness I pretend to pull you close…”
“You’re too far away when I can’t feel your heart beating next to mine,” Heechul sings with Hankyung. He feels his heart swelling and his eyes tearing, and he wonders if a single other person in this place knows that this is a special moment for him and Hankyung.
“And wherever you may be now, I know that you’ll be back… Somehow…”
Hankyung bows as applause and praise rains down on him. He looks up, locks eyes with Heechul.
“This is dedicated to a special person who is always in agony whenever I leave him in Korea.”
Hankyung smiles shyly when the applause becomes even louder.
BACKSTAGE
“You’re just trying to get on my good side,” Heechul tells Hankyung when they meet backstage.
“Is it bad to get on your good side?”
“No,” Heechul shakes his head. “You need to do it more often.”
A camera swivels in their direction just as their lips meet, and the screams from the stage area blows away even the people backstage.
Hankyung and Heechul look up, and the cameraman apologizes and explains that he is showing the audience the looks of backstage, and he had accidentally focused the camera on them.
Heechul just smirks and lets the man quickly film something else, but the audience quickly chants Heechul and Hankyung’s name.
Heechul pulls Hankyung closer, softly pressing his lips to the other’s. He can feel Hankyung shaking, and Heechul knows that Hankyung is nervous.
“Relax,” Heechul whispers softly. “Maybe now I can get those Chinese girls off your back.”
Hankyung sighs softly.
“You do know that this will be over the news soon?” Hankyung asks nervously.
“I’ll defend you with a two by four if I have to.”
“You’re the only person I know who doesn’t get nervous in front of a camera.”
Heechul nods and smiles, “Because I have to look good for you, right?”
Hankyung smiles in reply. He realizes that it doesn’t matter, as long as he had Kim Heechul beside him, nothing can ever scare him.
