The apple tree. Full of life, symbolizing beauty and love. Generosity. The Willow. Imagination. Intuition. Creativity. The Rowan. Connection. Protectiveness.

It is quite interesting what symbols that one can find from seemingly meaningless objects. And yet symbols are prevalent in almost every religion, whether they deal with plants or clouds or ( Read more... )

Don't sound like you're doing much. If you were, you wouldn't have time to spout all this shit. You'd keep your mouth shut and do your job, Girly.

Have I offended you somehow?

My 'faith?' You say that as if my beliefs are not valid.

I have never understood the meaning behind attaching such symbolic attributes to objects. I know that it is possible that I do it, as there are certain possessions that I hold in great esteem. It is often a key element to poetry that I have difficulty grasping.

How did you come to perceive the apple tree as such?

I hope you mean "you" to be my people, as I came to believe it the same way my parents did and their parents before them.

But the apple is a common symbol in both secular and religious thought. Some have accepted it as the biblical "forbidden fruit" though it changes from the Old Testament to the New Testament. The Greeks also believed the 'Tree of Life' contained golden apples. In Norse mythology, the golden apples kept the gods immortal. If I have my mythology correct.

More specifically, there is a story in my own mythology about apples. As for the reason behind such symbolism, well, one can only speculate.

I mean you as in you as an individual, as I was unaware that you had a particular religious following. Though that also gives me some applicable insight into what you mean.

What is the story your people share?

Perhaps another time. It's exhausting having to both defend my beliefs as well as explain them.

It's a pity those apples are supposedly repellents to Doctors. You make them sound quite nice. [He's teasing, of course, he loves apples.]

Oh, I was worried I'd been misled. I'd been under the populous aboard this vessel could be... entertaining.

Sometimes they can be. Other times that entertainment is only fun for one person.

Yes. [Thoughtfully.] It is the fault of any "vice", I find. Truly an enjoyment where only one is meant to benefit from its practice, and there must be a fair amount of vices packed into one small confined space. It's a wonder it has been so relatively at ease since I came.
