To be fair, that first Daley is the senior Daley (Richard J.) and the mayor I wanted to call about the slanty sidewalks is the junior Daley (Richard M.). They're both pretty fascinating guys, as is the whole political machine in Chicago, etc. etc. Tom can tell you more about it if he wanted. He was going to do a whole thing about Richard J. but never did, maybe it's still in the works for the future?
Personally, I just thought it was funny that someone would call the mayor himself about a sinking sidewalk in East Lakeview. Like he'd be all "I'll get my best men on the job!" When really he'd be all "can you sweeten the deal for me? How much up-top and how much under the table?" Or something.

If you want the GBV book, I'll mail it to you. Seriously. I'll never read it again. Not to say it wasn't enjoyable in parts, but it's one of those books I know I'll never read again.
