Title: One
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Theme: #04 - teddy bear
Pairing: Kaiba Mokuba & Kaiba Seto (not incest)
Rating: PG-13 / R (for drug abuse & implications of prostitution)
Disclaimer: I don't own the Y, th G, and O
Summary: A drabble set in the Foster Care universe.

Mokuba has no use for teddy bears.

He has stuffed animals in his room, of course - presents from charities his brother supports because no one can resist a photo-op with Kaiba Seto’s little brother.

They sit untouched on a special shelf, and the maids dust them once a week.

The social worker, for some reason, thinks Mokuba cares about them. “You can take one,” she tells him.

Mokuba just looks at her. She’s packing up the plainest of his clothing (wouldn’t want to cause jealousy at the shelter) in an overnight bag she must have brought herself because Mokuba doesn’t recognize it. He doesn’t bother to tell her the reasons for the bears and instead just shrugs.

“No one will tease you,” she promises.

And it hits him hard that they’re really going to make him leave and all that covering up for Nii-sama, all those promises Nii-sama made him, all their dreams are were for nothing.

Like those stupid teddy bears because if any charity thought they could wring more money out of Kaiba Seto simply by buying Kaiba Mokuba a teddy bear, they were fools.

The social worker looks at him, and he wonders what shows on his face. Bites his lip to harden his expression. “What?”

“Choose one,” she says again. “You’ll feel better if you do.”

Mokuba doesn’t do teddy bears, and so he sneers at the social worker.

On the other hand, he (of his own accord) picks up the stuffed rabbit Nii-sama gave him so-long-ago.

And hugs it tightly to his chest.

Title: Two
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Theme: #18 - the wrong words
Pairing: Kaiba Mokuba & Kaiba Seto (not incest)
Rating: PG-13 / R (for frank discussion of drug abuse)
Disclaimer: I don't own the Y, th G, and O
Summary: A drabble set in the Foster Care universe.

Mokuba doesn’t like it when Nii-sama injects. He thinks Nii-sama acts funny afterwards, and he tells Nii-sama so.

And Nii-sama at first scoffs, then gets angry, and finally tells Mokuba (in terse Osaka-ben) that Mokuba doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

But Mokuba does too know what he’s talking about. Nii-sama will sit in the dark for hours. Won’t eat. Will barely breathe. And then he’ll be up and pacing throughout the night.

Mokuba knows enough not to tell anybody (because Nii-sama always says that he’ll be taken away if he does), but sometimes he drops broad hints at Isono, and Isono (damnably) just remarks that Seto-sama is an eccentric genius.

Mokub resists the urge to stomp his food because it’s not that that makes Nii-sama suggest and say and do such bizarre things; it’s the smack that’s always racing through his system.

Sometimes he thinks of telling Yugi. Yugi’s smart, almost as smart as Nii-sama, and willing to believe what Nii-sama won’t. But Mokuba’s always afraid that if he tells one person, he won’t be able to stop himself from blurting out all his secrets to the rest of the world.

So he doesn’t tell anyone. And Nii-sama continues. And Mokuba hugs his knees to his chest and waits.

In case Nii-sama changes his mind.

Title: Three
Fandom: Yu-Gi-Oh!
Theme: #20 - broken dreams
Pairing: Kaiba Mokuba & Kaiba Seto (not incest)
Rating: PG-13 / R (again, drug abuse)
Disclaimer: I don't own the Y, th G, and O
Summary: A drabble set in the Foster Care universe.

Mokuba feels safe knowing Nii-sama’s in the apartment next store. Because even though he’s angry - angrier than he’s ever been - at Nii-sama, he also knows Nii-sama would die for him.

And Mokuba very much wants his brother to live.

When Mokuba was younger, he thought Nii-sama was untouchable. He was just as strong and just as fast and just as brave as any of the older boys. And he could drink more hard alcohol than even Daisuke who was almost seventeen.

And when Nii-sama hugged him and promised they were going to have a better life, Mokuba believed him.

But then Mokuba got older. Saw that all the things he admired in his brother were the wrong things. Saw that Nii-sama’s choices were the wrong ones.

Saw that Nii-sama was killing himself with a smile.
