Day 14: Arts & Entertainment

Linus, a Noro Striped Scarf in two shades of Noro Silk Garden.

I'm in love. Utterly, totally in love. Appropriate for Valentine's Day, no?

Last Tuesday at knit night, I finally succumbed to the urge to knit one of these scarves. I picked out four different colours and had my friend Misty help me choose two, and I cast on.

I truly believed that it would take me twice as long to knit this scarf as it did. It's one by one ribbing, there's striping, it's meant to be a longer scarf... it was supposed to take quite a while. Except the striping is addictive (I know this, from all of my other stripped projects I've talked about for 14 Valentines.) And this is even stripier and changes even more, because of the Noro.

There are a few spots where the coloured stripes are very nearly a match. I did consider breaking the yarns and starting up again with a different colour, but decided against it and just let the Noro do it's thing- I'm glad I did, because Noro does it's thing very well/

The scarf has to be over six feet long, and is about 6 inches wide, unstretched. I haven't washed or blocked it yet (I cast off on Sunday while watching the Oilers) and I can't wait until I do, because I know the yarn blooms beautifully and will soften even more.

Seriously, I'm in love- I wore it all day and might do so for the rest of the week.
