14valentines Day 13: Arts & Entertainment

DAMN YOU PETE WENTZ (Bandom socks) (Ravelry page)
Done in Socks that Rock Mediumweight, colourway "Hard Rock" on 2.5mm 32inch long circular needle.
Started December 2nd, in meletor_et_al's van with fairestcat, on our way down to Chicago to see FOB. Restarted later on because wow, my feet are not that big (note to self: when the ribbed socks are flopping around on your size ten feet, the sock is too damn big.)

Bandom socks because a)from the moment I got the yarn, I knew it was FOB-related, b) the alternating rib is both classic and quirky, much like bandom, and c) it's totally my bandom vacation memory project.

Alternating rib pattern: Round 1-5: *k1, p3* Rounds 6-10: *p1, k1, p2*

Cuff
Cast on 64 stitches loosely. Proceed in k1, p1 ribbing for approcimately 12 rounds or 1 1/4 inches.

Leg
Continue in alternating rib pattern 5 times or until leg is approximately 6 inches long.

Heel
Heel is done as a garter stitch short-row heel, over half of the stitches. Here's a good tutorial, just replace purling back on the wrong side with knitting the stitches to remain in garter stitch. Leave eight stitches unworked on the ball of the heel. No need to pick up the wraps in garter stitch, but you can if you'd like.

Foot
Continue in alternating rib pattern until 2 - 2/5" remain (if you've knit socks before, you should be able to adjust according to your own preferences.)

Toe
Decreasing pattern: round 1:*k1, ssk, k until 3 stitches remain on needle, k2tog, k1* repeat
round 2: purl all

Repeat these rounds until 8 stitches remain. Graft toe.
