My favorite book, today, is The Poky Little Puppy. There is copious dessert for the good puppies, including strawberries and chocolate pudding.
My favorite fantasy heroine is...whyyouwannamakemechoose? For an off-kilter reply, Erienne in A Rose in Winter, because that's the first book I remember reading where a girl wielded a sword. I think it was an imaginary sword, but still. A revelation for a kid who should have been reading middle grade books.
LJ says not enough room when I paste in my favorite authors. Heh.
My favorite book, or most meaningful, is Moonshot: The Inside Story of America's Race to the Moon by Alan Shepard and Deke Slayton. It's the book that 100% sealed my love of space exploration - particularly the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs.
Favorite fantasy heroine? God, I've read so little fantasy with great heroines. It's probably the collection of women in A Door into Ocean. Oh! Or Aenea in Endymion and The Rise of Endymion.
I don't think I have a favorite YA author other than my current love for Suzanne Collins.
My favorite book? I never know how to pick just one. I can tell you books I love: West With the Night, Cosmicomics, Magic for Beginners, Gaudy Night, Leave it to Psmith, The Histories by Hesiod, and the Nichomachean Ethics... Memoirs of Hadrian
Favorite fantasy heroine: I'm not sure Sally Lockhart counts, so probably Meg Murry or Susan Sto Helit, or Katniss, or Lyra, or see? I suck at picking a favorite. Plus I feel like Hermione and Luna go without saying here.
favorite YA author: Madeleine L'Engle was my first favorite and I'll never relinquish my soft spot for her.
My favourite book this month (hee I know) has got to be Laini Taylor's Lips Touch, Three Times on your recommendation. It was such a complete package, everything from the writing, to the illustrations (totally drool-worthy), the typesetting (those beautiful typefaces! coloured page numbers! omg!) it was just a beautiful thing.
My favourite YA author... one who specializes in YA? Hmm. I enjoy the canon of Shannon Hale's works, and Tamora Pierce, and Megan Whalen Turner. They're the type of author whose name I'd see on a bookshelf and grab their book without thinking twice.
Kel still is, and will always be my favourite heroine. :) But Tiffany Aching comes a close second. She's so meta and so cute I totally want to be her.
