I picked the only one of the choices that I've read. (I remember that overall I liked it but there was something that annoyed me. Since now I don't remember what that was, it was probably not a big deal. :P)
I also have a really hard time with graphic novels, but there are a couple I not only finished, but LOVED. Y: The Last Man has one of the most insanely awesome badass females of all time, Agent 355. (I'm convinced she was a Gallagher Girl. :D) And I recently read Persepolis, which isn't the superhero kind but more a memoir with pictures. It's about a girl growing up in 1980s Iran, and it's funny and horrible and fascinating. (Persepolis is also a really lovely film, but I hope Hollywood never tries with Y.)
:P Too bad for you that Keeping Corner won with two (and silent!Owl, voted in proxy by Marbles) pitiful votes. And...the first 10 pages were fine. (The last 110 pages of Hero, though...this book should have ended 100 pages earlier.)
*whines* I know, but it's the pictures. Even in Pretty Monsters, which just has random Shaun Tan pictures before the stories, I was like "WTF IS UP WITH THE PICTURES, BOOK?" I have issues. Especially since my picture issue is what's keeping me from reading Persepolis. And Watchman.
Read Link's "Magic for Beginners." It is more fantasy than horror. I particularly love the long short story "Stone Animals" and the title story. I think you will love the title story too.
