I consider it a good idea to go with friends only. Especially since you already know there are people who'll likely go digging if they ever figure out that you've got a new one.

I just popped for a paid account for another year, just so I could friends-lock every single post of mine.
I don't like being randomly findable online, so I vote for friends-locked.

i pretty much leave all my posts open (except, i think, for one or two), so i don't really have any advice on the friends-only issue.

on the other hand, i know all about being unemployed, and, believe me, i feel the frustration. remember how we first started chatting? ::grin::

I would also vote friends only. You don't need any (more) of the trolls coming down and harassing you. :)
