Jack Harkness || Death One || 1-G - Hallway Outside of Escape Pod Room

Jun 21, 2011 06:53

[It had been a long day.  A very long day.  Jack did everything he possibly could on the bridge despite constant interruptions.  He hasn't slept since waking up from cyro, but at least he's gotten his clothing on.  So while the man on video broadcasting to the ship looks tired, to those that met him, he's thankfully covered this time.]

[ Also thankfully covered by now, although since he's just hit audio that doesn't matter. ]

The escape pods are long gone, if that's what you're after, and in answer to your question: yes. Me.

No, it's what's passed them.

I also have some engineering experience, though I am more familiar with computer systems.

Good. I need someone to figure out how to get the hallway to close itself off so that I can get the escape pod room open.

[And get to those suits before he dies. That'll be the fun part.]

The central controls are in the bridge. I'll head there and see what I can do.

I spent the last eighteen hours in there.

[No lie.]

But go ahead and give it a looksee. I got the panel under the nav station off and tried to do a hard override.

[It singed him. Ouch.]

Repairs I can do. Usually. It's getting there that's the fun part.

Good. Come and meet me down here. I need a second opinion.

Now there's the sound of someone used to being in charge.

[Doesn't sound like that's a good or a bad thing, exactly. More just a little resigned.]

On my way.

Oh, don't worry, you don't have to call me sir. Jack'll do. And I'll be here.

[Video] Don't mind him. Really. silver_three June 21 2011, 15:41:13 UTC
....Fuck.

You really think we can not panic when the computer also says we have NO FUCKING TIME LEFT? Real fucking nice. Not to mention, there's no goddamn point in sticking people in some mindfuckery like this and giving them someone who can just man the ship. Think realistically, we're balled!

If there was no time left, we wouldn't be having this conversation. It's a glitch.

Or the ship realized we were already too close to it. Somehow I seriously doubt that we can make it out of here at this point.

Don't give up. First step in survival.

[The video message comes through while Martha is in the canteen; she's finally paused for long enough to get herself some food, not that it can really be called that. Powder form? The TARDIS offered better than this. But she needs to stop comparing. He's probably not even here...

But there's another familiar face, and not one that she was expecting. She probably should have, seeing how she was with Jack just yesterday -- or that's how it feels, anyway.

Is that was this is? Has everyone who opposed Davros been put here somehow as a sort of punishment? But so far Jack's the only one she's seen. Regardless of what's going on, she's glad to see him.]

Jack? [She records a message back to him, staring at his face over the feed.] Just because I refused your offer to work at Torchwood doesn't mean you can drag me onto dying spaceships, you know. [They've been in life-threatening situations like this before; she's allowed to joke.]

[Of course she is!]

Well if it isn't Miss Martha Jones. [It really hadn't been so long since they've seen each other, and things are looking up. If one Jones made it on board, maybe another did too? Though, honestly, Jack hopes the small remains of his team aren't here. Better them be safe.] Serves you right for saying no to these baby blues!

[But joyful sniping of friends can only last so long.]

Don't suppose you've got the Doctor in your back pocket? I already checked mine.

[That's more or less the way he always greets her, and the consistency of it makes her smile. Not that it lingers, considering the question that he asks next.

Of course he's curious. So is she, and a small part of her was hoping that Jack had gotten word. But if the Doctor's not here, then surely he'll come find them eventually.]

I don't. [She shakes her head.] We're on our own -- for now, at least.

Listen, Jack... do you remember how you ended up here? [So far it doesn't seem like anyone has, but she thinks it's worth asking.]

[He puts one hand against the wall by the screen and leans in, shaking his dark haired head.]

I don't. I was waiting for Ianto to finish perking the coffee and I must have fallen asleep--

[That almost never happened. Jack could go without sleep, his brain repaired itself as it went.]

What about you?
