Cat Nutrition Poll?

Dec 08, 2009 00:16

I figured it'd be fun to see how everyone goes about feeding their cats. Who's up for a cat nutrition poll?

Feel free to answer as many or as few of the poll's questions as you like!

If you feed cat food, what brand do you feed?: I switch foods often, usually Indigo Moon, Innova EVO, or Wellness CORE as their dry food (which is readily available all day as one of my girls scarfs and barfs)They also eat grain free wet food, usually Wellness because it's easy to find, occasionally they'll get other brands. As treats, they sometimes get bits of raw meat ( ... )

Maybe so, but then fish based cat foods aren't really good for them either. :)

Curious, why didn't the veterinary website change your mind and why do you feed mostly dry?

Source? Because I find that hard to believe. Fish oils are great for skin and coat. If cats were getting a predominantly fish diet then they would be missing out on some essential nutrients that they need and their salt content may be too high but if a cat was on an all wet food diet of fish flavoured foods (Wellness/fancy feast whatever major brand) thats not a problem because they have added the taurine and vitamins that they need. Fish is good for people too but if I ate a diet that was nothing but fish I would be in trouble!

Because I do not disagree with a lot of the things on there.

why do you feed mostly dry?Because my urinary cat will not eat wet food and stress can cause him to have urinary issues. I choose not to stress him out by trying (again) to transition him to a wet food diet. I would rather him live for 15 years and be happy than have him live for 20 being stressed out and in and out of the vet (where ( ... )

It's very odd that your cat gained weight on wet. Dry foods are naturally higher in carbs since that's what's needed to form the kibbles, and wet is typically higher in meat protein.
